Yi Weiwei returned dejectedly, while Yi Qing almost burst out laughing.
This scolding and revenge had been truly exhilarating.
She got out of bed and walked over to the table at a leisurely pace. She poured a cup of cool tea, picked it up, and walked back to hand it to Xiao Tian. "Drinking this will make you feel better."
Men were really different from women. She had been drugged, but now she was as good as new.
She had just been a bit too outspoken, and then Xiao Tian had lost control.
Xiao Tian turned his head away and refused to take the tea.
"I'm apologizing to you. I shouldn't have teased you. You're a decent person, different from me," Yi Qing said.
"Are you saying that you're not decent?"
"If saying so can make you stop being angry, then I'm not decent," Yi Qing said with a raised eyebrow.
Xiao Tian suddenly realized that this woman was truly a tough nut to crack. He didn't know how others dealt with her, but he himself had absolutely no way to handle her.
"Do you know why I was able to survive and defeat Yi Weiwei, who is much stronger than me, Xiao Tian?" Seeing that he still didn't take the tea, Yi Qing sighed, brought the cup to her lips, and took a sip. Without waiting for his answer, she said to herself, "It's because I have no shame."
Xiao Tian said, "Shut up."
He knew that, in fact, she just liked to take advantage verbally, but she was actually chaste and not an immoral person.
He took a deep breath and finally calmed down. Then he lifted the quilt and got out of bed. He said crossly, "Let's go!"
"Wait," Yi Qing didn't move. "Since we're already here, I can't leave so easily. Yi Weiwei and Lu Tianxun were fighting like gods, and I got caught in the middle. I've only scolded Yi Weiwei. I haven't settled the score with Lu Tianxun yet."
Xiao Tian said, "You're going to scold Lu Tianxun too?"
"Not exactly," Yi Qing said with a smile. She shouted towards the outside, "Young Master Lu, are you still there?"
As soon as she finished speaking, someone wheeled Lu Tianxun out.
Xiao Tian: "..."
He watched helplessly as Yi Qing ran out cheerfully like a young girl. She said to Lu Tianxun, "Did I help Young Master Lu vent his anger today?"
Lu Tianxun couldn't help but look at Xiao Tian and said with a smile, "You really did. I heard that the girl was going to scold me?"
"I've already said I'm not," Yi Qing said. "I have a son with good talent. If you don't believe me, you can ask Xiao Tian. Xiao Tian is a comrade of your cousin. His character is reliable."
Lu Tianxun said, "There's no need to ask. I agree."
This time it was Yi Qing's turn to be stunned.
Looking at her expression, Lu Tianxun burst out laughing. "I think with such an interesting mother as Miss Yi, your son must be a good apprentice."
As he spoke, he sat in his wheelchair and bowed to Xiao Tian, who bowed back in return.
"That's great. I'll go back and prepare the apprenticeship gifts. I'll come and bother you another day," Yi Qing said.
"I'll welcome you with pleasure."
Xiao Tian and Yi Qing walked back side by side, leaving behind a tall and a short shadow that was occasionally covered by the dancing tree shadows.
"I thought you would tell Lu Tianxun that you'd treat his leg in exchange for his taking Baozi as his apprentice," Xiao Tian said.
"No, how do I know if he's just a fame-seeker?"
Xiao Tian said, "I thought you couldn't treat his leg."
"You doubt my medical skills?" Yi Qing snorted. "As long as Lu Tianxun has good character, is well-learned, and is kind to Baozi, I'll treat his leg."
Xiao Tian thought she was boasting.
Knowing medicine and having medical skills better than those of the imperial physicians were two different things.
But he didn't expose her. He just said indifferently, "You should be prepared. This matter has already caused quite a stir. Your step-mother will probably come to find you. You know, she's not easy to deal with."
Yi Qing looked innocent. "I didn't plan to deal with her either. I've said many times that Baozi, the son of Xiao Jinghan, is the real deal."
Xiao Tian ignored her.
Sure enough, Mrs. Di, the step-mother, came quickly.
The sun was setting in the west, and the afterglow had dyed half of the sky red, looking like a raging fire.
Xiao Tian was teaching Baozi how to wield a sword in the yard, while Yi Qing was cooking in the kitchen. When the small courtyard was peaceful and serene, the door was knocked loudly.
Yi Qing smiled faintly. While taking off her apron, she winked at Xiao Tian. "Was I right?"
"It was I who said so," Xiao Tian said expressionlessly. He patted Baozi on the head. "Let's go inside."
Baozi hesitated. He looked at Yi Qing and then at Xiao Tian.
Yi Qing said with a smile, "Go inside. Mother can handle it."
She understood that Xiao Tian was Xiao Jinghan's bodyguard. He probably felt that his position would be rather awkward if he showed up in front of Mrs. Di, so he wanted to avoid her.
Baozi nodded. "If someone bullies mother, shout loudly. Uncle Xiao and I will come out to help mother."
"Okay."
Yi Qing opened the door. Looking at the woman outside who was dressed in gorgeous clothes but looked haggard, she said with a fake smile, "Welcome, Mrs. Di. I'm sorry I didn't greet you from afar."
"Where's the child? Where's the child?" Mrs. Di said in a hoarse voice. "Is the child Xiao Jinghan's?"
"Yes," Yi Qing said firmly. "So what are your instructions?"
"I want to see the child!"
"No," Yi Qing crossed her arms and sneered. Her attitude was cold and distant. "Do you think I'll let you see the child just because you want to?"
"I know you're doing this to take revenge on me," Mrs. Di's eyes were red and swollen, but her expression was determined. "Tell me, did you go to him back then to take revenge on me, or are you deliberately trying to smear his name now to anger me?"
"Mrs. Di thinks too highly of herself. What on earth has your Marquis Huaien Mansion done to deserve me sacrificing myself to take revenge?" Yi Qing said coldly. "Why don't you say that I fell in love with Xiao Jinghan's character and looks? Don't you think he deserves true love?"
"You..." Mrs. Di was rendered speechless by her words. "I won't argue with you. Just tell me honestly, is the child really Xiao Jinghan's? If not, I won't bother with you."
"Whether the child is his or not, I don't need to explain it to you, and I don't care whether you bother with me or not," Yi Qing said. "I only trust Chang Yuanzhi and Lu Tianzuo. I don't trust others. It's hard to judge a person's heart. How do I know how Xiao Jinghan really died and whether you had anything to do with it?"
"I just want to see the child. I'll leave after I see him," Mrs. Di almost pleaded. "If he really is, then he's the only flesh and blood that Xiao Jinghan left in this world. Putting aside the feud between me and your birth mother, I really want to know..."
