Chapter 196 Can You Stay?

(Thanks to Lingling and Ander for the two crystal balls. Thank you for your support all the way. I'll add an extra chapter. Love you all.)

Jun He's words yanked Gu Qingcheng out of her sweet dream and back to reality. Her face fell, looking as ugly as could be.

She whirled around and swung a slap at him.

Thankfully, Jun He was quick. Before her hand could land, he'd dodged "a hundred miles away."

"You can't hit me, you can't hit me!"

"Fine! I'll break your bones and skin you alive today!" With that, she rolled up her sleeves and lunged at Jun He.

Jun He was dexterous, dodging her attacks one after another. Gu Qingcheng simply couldn't catch up with him.

"I'm telling you, if you keep dodging, I'll become sworn sisters with the girl later. Then you'll have to call her aunt. Let's see if you still want to chase after her."

Hearing this, Jun He immediately gave in. Gu Qingcheng stepped forward and delivered a flying kick.

I was startled and pouted. I thought to myself, "Is this really her own mother? Jun He has it tough too."

My time was limited, and I didn't want to waste it on their bickering.

I quickened my steps to Guyuan's room and closed the door behind me.

There was no day in Jiuyou. At this moment, Guyuan was standing by the window, lost in thought as he stared at the red moon outside.

He didn't even notice when I entered the room and quietly walked up behind him.

I reached out and hugged him from behind, pressing my cheek against his solid back.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked softly.

Guyuan snapped out of his reverie, took a deep breath, and held my hands with his.

"Nothing. Have you seen the room?" Guyuan turned around, putting his arms around my waist.

"Yeah. That room is too girly. I'm not quite used to it," I said to Guyuan with a smile.

"So what kind of room do you like?"

"Um..." I pinched my chin and looked up, thinking for a while before telling him what my ideal room would be like.

"I want a huge floor - to - ceiling window with white curtains. The first ray of sunlight in the morning can shine right beside the bed..."

Guyuan listened intently. His affectionate eyes were always fixed on my face, but when I looked up at him, he averted his gaze.

I tilted my head curiously, looking at his face, but he turned it to the other side.

"Aren't you hungry? Do you want some fruit? I'll go wash it for you."

Before I could answer, he pulled my arm and walked out of the room.

I could tell that he seemed to have something on his mind.

Watching his departing back, I let out a heavy sigh.

I could very well understand his feelings. Just a day ago, he was the high - and - mighty Crown Prince of the Celestial Realm. But at this moment, he had to live under someone else's roof. Anyone would feel a sense of loss.

Although I really wanted to stay by his side, perhaps he preferred to be alone for a while.

Guyuan didn't leave for long. When he came back, he had adjusted his emotions. He put the fruit in my hand.

The two of us were silent for a while. Guyuan was the first to break the silence.

"Do you have something to say to me?" His voice was extremely pleasant, that clear and melodious voice that belonged to a young man, like the tinkling of a silver bell.

I put down the juicy peach in my hand, thought for a moment, and said, "This peach is really delicious. Do you want to try it?"

After hearing my answer, I wasn't sure if it was my imagination, but a flash of disappointment crossed Guyuan's face. But it disappeared in an instant. I thought I might have misseen it.

"There are still plenty. As long as you're by my side, you can have them anytime."

Guyuan's voice was no longer clear. Instead, it had a hint of hoarseness, as if he was holding back something.

It made my throat choke. The fruit in my mouth just wouldn't go down. It was so bitter that my eyes welled up with tears.

I looked down at the half - bitten juicy peach and stuffed it into Guyuan's hand.

"It's getting late. I'm going back to sleep. You should go to bed early too."

I stood up and was about to leave the room when Guyuan suddenly grabbed my hand. "Don't go, okay?"

His words completely shattered the last line of defense in my heart. I didn't dare to turn back and look at his face. I held back my tears so hard that my body trembled slightly.

It took me a long time to hold them back. Then I turned around, threw myself into his arms, and stood on tiptoe to kiss his lips.

He hugged me tightly, as if he wanted to merge me into his body.

The two of us kissed passionately, kissed until we could hardly catch our breath, and still didn't want to part.

I slowly opened my eyes and looked at Guyuan's slightly closed eyes. His long eyelashes were moist, trembling slightly like the wings of a butterfly.

Was he crying for me? Just thinking about it made my heart ache. Tears rolled down the corners of my eyes.

Then I thought, it couldn't be. He knew nothing. How could he be crying for me? Maybe it was just because he had left home.

"Bang! Bang! Bang!" A knock on the door interrupted our kiss.

I gently rubbed my numb lips, opened the door in a hurry. When I saw Gu Qingcheng, I lowered my head and left.

I didn't dare to look back at Guyuan because I knew that if I did at this moment, I might never be able to leave with a firm heart.

I endured my emotions and ran out of the City of Eternal Night. I looked up at the red moon hanging high in the sky.

Suddenly, I didn't want to leave anymore. I took a step forward, wanting to run back. I wanted to tell Guyuan that I wouldn't leave, that I wanted to stay with him from now on.

"Little girl, why are you crying?" Somehow, Jun He appeared in front of me, pulling me back from my momentary impulse.

I quickly took back my steps, dispelling the idea of running back. I glanced at the red moon again. I had to leave immediately.

I sniffed hard and walked quickly towards the stone bridge.

"Hey, why are you leaving? I'm talking to you!" Jun He followed me as I walked.

"I don't have time to argue with you. I have something very important to do now. You should go back quickly."

"We've just met. Are you leaving before we've even had a chance to bond?"

I was too lazy to waste words on him and simply replied, "The person I like is Guyuan. It was him in the past, it is him now, and it will always be him. So you have no chance."

After hearing my words, Jun He stood still and didn't chase after me. I didn't dare to stop for a moment and quickened my pace towards the stone bridge.

"Thank you for the fruit you gave me. I set off fireworks and released sky lanterns for you for three days. May you achieve your wishes and be happy forever."

My steps paused for a moment, but I didn't look back. I just nodded my head sideways in his direction.

I ran all the way along the River of Oblivion. Before I knew it, an orange sky lantern rose above my head, lighting the way ahead.

This lantern followed me like a shadow until I reached the stone bridge and saw A Yin. Then it slowly rose above the River of Oblivion.

"Let's go," A Yin said as she took my hand. I felt an inexplicable force tugging at me.

When I looked back, Chi Yu's physical body had slumped to the ground.

"Don't worry. She's just asleep. Guyuan will take her back later," A Yin quickly explained, afraid that I would be worried.

I looked up at the sky lantern above the River of Oblivion again. I always felt like I had seen it somewhere before.

"Let's go." I took A Yin's hand and was about to turn around when a sudden light flashed in my palm.

"A firefly?"

Wasn't this the firefly that Guyuan had placed in my palm? Why did it appear at this moment?
