Chapter 181: The Tree Coffin

Gu Yuan suddenly whirled around. The Moon Golden Wheel materialized out of thin air, humming as it swept directly across Hu Fujin's water sleeve.

She was pulling hard. Before I could be pulled to her side, the Moon Golden Wheel had already severed the water sleeve in the middle. She staggered and almost fell to the ground.

At this moment, Gu Yuan was completely enraged. He teleported forward, grabbed Hu Fujin by the neck with one hand, and pushed her against the opposite wall.

Hu Fujin's back hit the wall so hard that the wall cracked.

Gu Yuan lifted her by the neck. Hu Fujin pounded his arm with both hands and kicked her feet wildly.

Hu Xuanfeng wanted to step forward to stop him, but Gu Yuan flicked his sleeve and sent him flying out of the window.

Gu Yuan was brimming with violence and had clearly intended to kill.

Just then, Hu Qingluan, who was lying on the bed, coughed softly and regained consciousness.

The atmosphere eased a bit. Hu Xuanfeng quickly climbed back in through the window and knelt on the ground, begging Gu Yuan to spare Hu Fujin.

"Master San, please spare our lives."

Gu Yuan glanced at Hu Qingluan, who had just come to, then turned to look at me.

I shook my head at him. Of course, I didn't want him to start killing people right after he came out of seclusion.

Gu Yuan lowered his eyes and looked at my neck. Seeing that I was fine, he then flung Hu Fujin away.

Her neck ached terribly. She collapsed on the ground. Her former arrogance had vanished, and she now trembled like a little chick in the face of Gu Yuan's rage.

"Please, Master San, save Qingluan." Hu Xuanfeng pulled Hu Fujin to kneel on the ground and begged Gu Yuan for help.

Gu Yuan folded his hands behind his back and said coldly to Hu Fujin, "Since I've promised Master Liu San to save her, I will surely do so. As for your slander that I cast a spell on her, we'll settle that later."

After saying that, he strode over to Hu Qingluan. By now, she could already speak.

"What's his name?" Gu Yuan's gloomy eyes met Hu Qingluan's emaciated face.

At this moment, Hu Qingluan only wanted to save her life. She didn't care about anything else.

"Xun Mengsheng, a witch doctor from the Miao Region."

Gu Yuan didn't ask any more questions. It seemed that this information was enough for him.

Hu Xuanfeng quickly stood up and asked Gu Yuan respectfully, "Master San, what's going on here?"

"If I'm not mistaken, she and Xun Mengsheng fell in love with each other. Afraid of losing her, Xun Mengsheng cast a Love Gu on her."

"We've noticed this too, but we couldn't detect the red thread on her ring finger. What exactly is that red thread?" Hu Xuanfeng continued to ask.

"The red thread is like the matchmaker's red string, binding the fates of two people. In simple terms, if one of them dies and the red thread remains unbroken, the other will follow."

"Then we just need to break the red thread."

"That's true, but it's already too late. The red thread has reached her heart meridian and is now connected to Xun Mengsheng's life. Now that Xun Mengsheng is dead, and he died with a grudge and entered the demonic path. If we can't find his tomb, she will surely follow him in three days."

"But just now, she was also caught by the red thread, and you helped her cut it off." Hu Xuanfeng had also seen the red thread binding my finger and Gu Yuan cutting it off, yet I was fine.

"The situations of the two of them are different." Gu Yuan didn't say any more. Hu Xuanfeng didn't dare to ask further. After all, Gu Yuan had already promised to save Hu Qingluan, so nothing else mattered.

After saying that, Gu Yuan walked over to Hu Qingluan again. The red thread appeared once more and extended all the way out of the door into the distance.

"You hurt him so deeply, but he still hasn't taken your life. You're really lucky." Gu Yuan said to Hu Qingluan.

Hu Qingluan propped herself up on the head of the bed with one hand and coughed twice. She couldn't even speak.

"Hu Xuanfeng, I'm going to find the tomb now. As soon as this thread is broken, immediately feed this talisman to her."

Hu Xuanfeng took the talisman paper and pulled Hu Fujin to bow and bid farewell to Gu Yuan.

"If you really manage to save Hu Qingluan this time, your reputation as Master Liu San will be well-established." I said to Gu Yuan.

"It's just a false name. I don't care about it." Gu Yuan sounded like a little adult, which made me want to laugh.

"But it's not an undeserved reputation." I kept flattering him. His name later became well-known among the Shamans.

"Was that Moon Golden Wheel just now your magical tool? I've never seen you use it before." Gu Yuan chatted with me as we walked.

Hearing his words, I was stunned for a moment and said, "Isn't this Moon Golden Wheel yours?"

"I don't have any magical tools." Gu Yuan said.

"How is that possible? That Moon Golden Wheel is called Full Moon, Full Moon!"

As soon as I finished speaking, the Moon Golden Wheel was actually summoned by me. It circled around me, humming.

The place where the words "Full Moon" were originally written was now empty. There was no name at all.

"I've already said it's your magical tool. 'Full and New Moon' is a good name." After Gu Yuan said that, he gently stroked the Moon Golden Wheel with his arm, and the words "Full Moon" were engraved on it.

"Ah..."

I pouted, thinking to myself, did I give names to both Gu Yuan and the Moon Golden Wheel?

"Don't you like it?" Gu Yuan looked at my face.

"No, I like it. I like it very much. Full Moon is a great name. There will even be a girl named Full Moon who will have a relationship with you in the future." I grinned, clenching my teeth tightly. My heart was filled with jealousy, and my voice was squeezed out from my throat.

"What did you say?"

I quickly shut my mouth and shook my head like a rattle.

Gu Yuan held the red thread with one hand and didn't ask any more questions. His expression became serious.

The red thread led into the dense forest. Gradually, a layer of white miasma rose. Dark clouds hovered over the treetops, and lightning flashed across the sky. It seemed that it was about to rain.

Usually, the more like this it was, the closer they were to the tomb.

Gu Yuan thought I would be scared, so he tightly held my hand with his other hand. "Are you scared?"

I looked up at Gu Yuan's handsome face, my gaze firm. "As long as you're here, I'm not afraid of anything."

Gu Yuan showed me a shy smile. He lifted our clasped hands. The red thread hooked around our ring fingers, just like a wedding ring.

"I don't want to break this red thread. It's now the matchmaker's red string." When Gu Yuan said this, his eyes were filled with affection, clear as peach blossom wine. I was completely captivated.

"Then don't break it." At this moment, my heart was intoxicated. I truly understood what it meant to be intoxicated not by wine but by a person.

"Boom..." As a thunderclap sounded in the sky, Gu Yuan and I looked in the direction of the sound.

They saw an old tree in the distance being struck by lightning and bursting into flames.

"We've found it." Gu Yuan put his arm around my waist and took a step forward. The two of them landed beside the old tree.

As Gu Yuan landed, the flames on the tree went out. It turned into a huge, charred piece of charcoal. The bark was cracked from the heat, and the branches stretched out menacingly, still emitting white smoke.

Behind the tree, there was a tree hole as wide as a person. From the outside, they could clearly see a coffin embedded in the inner wall of the tree hole. There was a gap at the other end of the coffin, and a cluster of green ghostly flames hovered above it. A chilling aura rushed out from the tree hole, making one's hair stand on end.

It seemed that Xun Mengsheng's death wasn't a natural one. It was more like he had committed suicide for revenge. Otherwise, he wouldn't have chosen such a sinister place as his burial ground.

The red thread went into the coffin through the tree hole. There was no doubt that this was Xun Mengsheng.

"Come on, stay close to me." With Gu Yuan's words, I closely followed him into the narrow tree coffin.
