Chapter 92: Hide and Seek

Zhu Hui's face turned deathly pale. She wanted to defend herself, but it was as if there was a fishbone stuck in her throat. She was so miserable that she couldn't utter a word. She just stared blankly.

Yu Nian no longer looked at Chen Zi. It was obvious that she loathed this man to the extreme.

Feng Chengyuan ignored Chen Zi and walked to Zhu Hui's side. "If you're interested, you can come to my company and try the position of literary director."

Zhu Hui was stunned and said in disbelief, "Can I... really?"

The Feng Group was a company that many people didn't even dare to dream of joining. Yet, it was now extending an olive branch to her!

"Why not? Yu Nian showed me the articles you wrote in college and recently. They're both profound and valuable. You have talent and should shine in the field you love, instead of being restricted by others and wasting yourself day after day in the trivialities of life, only to end up as an appendage to someone else."

Zhu Hui was in a daze for a long time. Finally, with red - rimmed eyes, she nodded.

Chen Zi completely slumped. He was truly panicked. If Zhu Hui saw the colorful world outside, would she still be willing to stay at home obediently?

Chen Zi staggered to Zhu Hui's side and softened his tone.

"Xiaohui, I was wrong before. I'm willing to give away all those dirty antiques. Don't leave!"

Zhu Hui wiped away her tears, broke free from Chen Zi's arm, and said to Yu Nian, "Master, please don't argue with Chen Zi. Come to my house and get rid of those evil things!"

...

When everyone arrived at Chen Zi's house, it was already late at night.

Two bright lights hung directly above the living - room, but everyone still felt extremely oppressed inside the house.

Yu Nian walked up to the cabinet full of antiques and casually pasted a yellow talisman on it. Feng Chengyuan only felt that the cold and gloomy feeling in the house had dissipated a lot, but it still made people feel a bit uncomfortable.

Yu Nian asked Chen Zi, "Are all the antiques placed here?"

Chen Zi stepped forward, examined them carefully, and suddenly changed his complexion. "My porcelain figurine is gone!"

He rummaged through the whole house but didn't find the porcelain figurine anywhere.

Chen Zi slumped onto the sofa in a daze. "How could this happen? I spent a fortune on that porcelain figurine."

Yu Nian did some calculations and said calmly, "That porcelain figurine had the heaviest evil aura among all the antiques. What you bumped into last night should be it."

Zhu Hui rubbed her arms and looked a bit scared. "Master, where is the porcelain figurine now?"

"The time hasn't come yet. We won't be able to find it. Don't sleep too soundly tonight. At midnight, the yin energy will be at its strongest, and it should appear."

Fortunately, Chen Zi's house was big enough. Soon, rooms were arranged for Yu Nian and the others.

Yu Nian took out a stack of amulets and distributed one to each person.

Chen Zi hesitated for a long time, with his ears turning red. "Master, I also want an amulet."

Yu Nian handed the talisman paper to Chen Zi. Chen Zi took it respectfully and put it in his pocket.

After being taught a lesson by Yu Nian, he deeply understood a truth: It didn't matter if he lost face. Life was more important than pride!

Yu Nian glanced at the bedroom of Chen Zi and Zhu Hui and instructed, "When sleeping at night, it's best not to point the tips of your shoes at the bed, or it will attract some dirty things to the bed. If you want to break this, just put one shoe upside - down."

Chen Zi was stunned. Before he could ask further, Yu Nian and the others had already returned to their respective rooms.

Chen Zi and Zhu Hui were in the same room, and the atmosphere was a bit awkward.

Chen Zi also realized that he had spoken too harshly before. He placed his hand on Zhu Hui's shoulder. "Xiaohui..."

But Zhu Hui had already pulled the quilt over her head, and her voice was muffled. "Chen Zi, we've been living together with different hearts for a long time. Even without this incident, the contradictions between us would have erupted sooner or later. Rome wasn't built in a day. My enthusiasm and expectations have been gradually exhausted. I've been humble for too long and I'm a bit tired. After this is over, I think... we should seriously consider our relationship."

Without waiting for Chen Zi's response, Zhu Hui closed her eyes. Her breathing gradually calmed down, and she fell asleep.

The talisman paper that she had been holding tightly in her hand also slipped to the side of the pillow.

Chen Zi couldn't fall asleep. His mind was full of thoughts.

I don't know how long it had passed when Chen Zi suddenly heard two extremely low chuckles.

It seemed to come from the bedside table, or it seemed to come right next to his ear.

Zhu Hui beside him suddenly sat up and quietly walked towards the door.

Chen Zi was startled. "Xiaohui, where are you going? Didn't the master tell us to stay in the room?"

But Zhu Hui seemed not to hear his words and walked straight out.

Chen Zi waited in bed for a long time. By the time he felt a bit sleepy, Zhu Hui still hadn't come back.

Chen Zi wanted to go and check. But when he moved to the edge of the bed, his face turned pale.

His two shoes that were originally placed outside the door had been moved to the edge of the bed at some point, with the tips of the shoes pointing straight at the bed.

Chen Zi remembered what Yu Nian had just said and quickly rearranged the shoes, one upright and the other upside - down.

Just then, Zhu Hui came back.

Chen Zi let out a sigh of relief. Just as he was about to call out to her, he saw Zhu Hui's appearance in the moonlight and immediately felt a chill all over his body.

Zhu Hui's eyes glowed a strange red light in the darkness. Her steps were unsteady, as if something was holding her up from behind. Her posture was extremely strange.

She walked towards Chen Zi but suddenly stopped a few steps away from the bed. A look of confusion appeared on her face.

Zhu Hui paced around the bed, walking faster and faster, as if she was very anxious.

Chen Zi's heart skipped a beat. It seemed that Zhu Hui... couldn't see the position of the bed.

Zhu Hui stopped walking. Suddenly, she squeezed out a few extremely strange growls from her throat, and a ferocious smile appeared on her face.

Her voice was high - pitched and shrill, stabbing painfully at people's eardrums.

"Chen Zi, where are you? You've hidden yourself, right?"

"Then you'd better hide well. Now I'm going to find you."

"Be careful. If I catch you, I'll eat you."

"Chen Zi, I can see you... hehe..."

Chen Zi: ...

Zhu Hui's voice drifted in the darkness, cold and distorted.

Chen Zi's gaze fell on the yellow talisman that Zhu Hui had dropped beside the pillow. Finally, he realized: Could it be that Zhu Hui was possessed by an evil spirit!

Even more terrifying was that this evil spirit was a cunning and mischievous guy.

It knew that Chen Zi was in this room. It was just that someone had taught him to set up a yin - yang formation, creating a barrier between them so that it couldn't see him.

But it wasn't in a hurry to find Chen Zi. Instead, it was playing the cat - and - mouse game with great interest.

It could keenly hear Chen Zi's heartbeat and enjoyed the panic and uneasiness of the prey before death, which gave it a great sense of accomplishment.

Chen Zi covered his mouth tightly and watched as Zhu Hui stretched out her hands and floated around the room, groping.
