Chapter 162: Sensing Something Different

The sound of typing came from the phone receiver. "I'm not busy that day anyway."

It was a yes!

Meng Nianchu fought back a smile. After chatting with Mu Junze for a couple more sentences, she hung up the phone and sat up.

Rubbing her small hands together, Meng Nianchu started to think about what gift to get for Mu Junze. Then she remembered that he had been swamped with work these days. He must have completely forgotten about his own birthday.

In that case, she could surprise him and make up for the lack of quality time they'd had recently.

Just as the rumors had it, Director Zhang Fan decided to give everyone a week off after this competition, considering how hard everyone had worked.

As soon as Meng Nianchu received the message from the director, she packed her bags and rushed back to Shangting. Stepping into the house she hadn't been in for days, she felt a rush of nostalgia.

She dumped her luggage in the living room and dashed to her room. She changed the sheets and duvet covers and, while she was still full of energy, cleaned every corner of the house.

The house was cleaned every morning, so it wasn't a tough job for Meng Nianchu. She just thought that if she did it herself, the house would feel warmer. Mu Junze would feel at home as soon as he walked in.

Maybe Mu Junze knew that Meng Nianchu was coming home today. After days of overtime at the company, he came back to Shangting unusually early. He was still discussing a project with Tracy when he walked in.

He slipped on his slippers and entered the living room. A delicious smell of food wafted from the kitchen. He had just placed his briefcase on the sofa when Meng Nianchu walked out with a large yellow bowl in her hand and headed towards the dining table.

Seeing Mu Junze, Meng Nianchu gave him a sweet smile and then went back to the kitchen to get two sets of chopsticks and bowls.

"Come and have dinner," she said.

Mu Junze walked closer and saw that it was noodles. He pulled out a chair and sat down. Meng Nianchu handed him a bowl. "Try it and see how it tastes."

Mu Junze took a bite. A glint flashed across his eyes, but his face remained calm. "It's okay."

Meng Nianchu quickly filled a bowl for herself and took a sip of the soup. The fresh smell of fish spread in her mouth. "I've planned where we're going tomorrow. Just follow my lead," she said.

Mu Junze took another sip of the soup. "Okay."

The couple hadn't seen each other for days because of their busy schedules. Finally, they had a chance to be alone. Meng Nianchu was over the moon.

Although Mu Junze didn't say how much he missed Meng Nianchu, his actions gave him away. Wherever Meng Nianchu went, he would follow closely behind.

It was as if he was afraid that she would disappear if he took his eyes off her for a second.

After having some fruit in the living room and chatting with Bailing about what had been going on, Meng Nianchu felt sticky and uncomfortable. She grabbed her clothes and headed to the bathroom to take a shower.

Just as she walked into the bathroom, Mu Junze's phone on the coffee table suddenly beeped.

Mu Junze, who was reading the newspaper, picked up his phone. When he saw the text message, his eyebrows furrowed.

Wish you a happy day today, and happy birthday tomorrow. From Linda.

Linda?

Mu Junze frowned even deeper when he saw the name at the end of the message.

How did this woman get my phone number?

Mu Junze couldn't figure it out, and he didn't want to waste his time thinking about this insignificant woman. He deleted the message expressionlessly and blocked the number.

He tossed his phone onto the coffee table casually and looked at the closed bathroom door. He could vaguely see Meng Nianchu's graceful figure through the door. A fire ignited in his lower abdomen.

His body seemed to have a mind of its own. He stood up and walked quickly towards the bathroom. He turned the doorknob and rushed in.

Meng Nianchu was so startled that she instinctively covered her body.

"What are you doing in here!" she exclaimed.

"What do you think?" he replied with a sly tone.

Then Meng Nianchu watched as he walked towards her step by step...

Anyway, she didn't get to take a shower in the end.

The next morning, Meng Nianchu woke up feeling refreshed. Mu Junze had woken up earlier. He was sitting on the bed with his laptop, probably dealing with some work.

Meng Nianchu felt touched. Even though he was so busy with work, he still agreed to go out with her.

She propped her head up with her hand and looked at Mu Junze longingly. "If you're busy with work, we can go out later. There's no rush."

"Are you awake?" Mu Junze heard Meng Nianchu's voice and pressed the Enter key on his laptop. He closed the laptop.

Meng Nianchu sat up. She glanced at the white shirt on the floor and then at Mu Junze. Then she got out of bed and walked up to him naked. She put on her clothes right in front of him.

Mu Junze didn't avert his eyes. He stared at her boldly.

His gaze was so intense that Meng Nianchu blushed. "I'll go and make breakfast."

"Breakfast is ready. We can eat right away."

Mu Junze walked up to Meng Nianchu. His tall figure towered over her. He picked her up in his arms and walked downstairs slowly.

"There are no shoes in the room. You'll catch a cold," he said.

It was a huge improvement for him to say something so tender. Before Meng Nianchu could praise him, Mu Junze added coldly, "I'm just afraid that if you catch a cold, you'll torture me again."

Meng Nianchu had to hold back the urge to punch him.

Thankfully, Mu Junze didn't do anything else to make Meng Nianchu angry. After a quiet breakfast, he took her to the place she wanted to go.

Following Meng Nianchu's directions, they arrived at their destination. To Mu Junze's surprise, the car stopped in front of an amusement park.

Mu Junze twitched the corner of his mouth and looked down at his suit.

Meng Nianchu pulled Mu Junze out of the car excitedly. "Do you like it!"

Looking into Meng Nianchu's expectant eyes, Mu Junze couldn't force a smile.

Mu Junze thought that Meng Nianchu really wanted to come here to relax. He planned to sit on the side and wait for her while she had fun. He would just be there to bring her water and take care of her. But Meng Nianchu insisted that he play with her in every game.

After a few rounds of games, Mu Junze could barely maintain his cold and aloof image.

Maybe Meng Nianchu noticed that Mu Junze couldn't handle these thrilling games. She decided to call it quits at lunchtime. She took him to the five - star restaurant she had booked the day before.

When they walked into the private room Meng Nianchu had arranged, Mu Junze's cold expression gradually softened into tenderness.
