"How did you get here?" Meng Nianchu watched as the person sat down on the chair beside her.
Mu Feng picked up a pair of chopsticks and popped a drunken shrimp into his mouth. "I heard the food here is the best, so I came for a bite. Never thought I'd run into you."
Meng Nianchu sized him up suspiciously.
Could it really be such a coincidence?
Mu Junzhu watched Mu Feng gobbling his food with a cold look. His face was taut as he picked up some food and put it into Meng Nianchu's porcelain bowl. "Eat."
Since the person had already sat down and started using the chopsticks, it was impossible to just kick him out.
Meng Nianchu stole a glance at Mu Junze. His head was down, so she couldn't see his expression. She didn't say anything more and just ate her food.
But Mu Feng was anything but well - behaved. He suddenly leaned closer to Meng Nianchu and picked a piece of boneless fish for her. "This is delicious. You've been so busy these days. Eat more fish to nourish yourself."
Mu Junze shot a sharp look at Mu Feng.
Mu Feng grinned. "Mr. Mu, you should eat more too. The fish is right in front of you. You're not handicapped, so you should be able to pick up your own food. I won't do it for you."
"Nianchu doesn't need it either."
"Ms. Meng has helped me so much on the site. It's only right that I be nice to her. Mr. Mu, don't worry about me. I can reach all the food. I can feed myself."
Mu Feng blatantly ignored Mu Junze's murderous look. He smiled even wider at Meng Nianchu. "Ms. Meng, eat more."
Meng Nianchu stole a look at Mu Junze.
Sure enough, his face was as black as thunder.
With Mu Feng's unexpected appearance, this meal was doomed to be an unpleasant one. During the meal, Mu Feng behaved very boldly. He knew how angry Mu Junze was, but he still risked being stared at intently and kept picking up food for Meng Nianchu that was right in front of her.
Meng Nianchu even thought that Mu Feng was sent by God to punish her.
Finally, the meal was over. Mu Junze pulled Meng Nianchu behind him. When they reached the entrance, Mu Junze suddenly received a call from Tracy. There were people coming and going at the restaurant entrance, so Mu Junze went to the restroom.
Meng Nianchu and Mu Feng waited at the door.
"I knew you did it on purpose!" When Mu Junze went to pay the bill after the meal, he found that it had already been paid. The waiter said that Mu Feng had paid as soon as he arrived at the restaurant.
Mu Feng stuffed his hands into his trouser pockets, looking nonchalant. "I saw you've been taking care of me so much on the site recently. I just wanted to repay you. Since you didn't want me to treat you, I had to tag along."
"Mr. Mu is really stingy. Just because I picked up a piece of food for you, he got so angry. He's so narrow - minded."
Meng Nianchu reached out and tapped him on the back of the head. "You're still a kid. What are you imitating adults for!"
"I was just thinking you're older than me, so I wanted to show my respect..."
Meng Nianchu slapped him on the back of the head again, even harder this time.
They waited at the door for a while. Seeing that Mu Junze still hadn't come out of the restroom, they started to get worried. Afraid that something might happen to him in the restroom because of his injured leg, Mu Feng was about to go in and check.
Just as this thought flashed through his mind, a clear and gentle voice came from behind them.
"Mu Feng, what are you doing here?"
Hearing the female voice, the smile on Mu Feng's face froze instantly.
Meng Nianchu looked over and saw a young and pretty girl. She seemed to be about the same age as Mu Feng.
The girl walked around in front of Mu Feng. Meeting his eyes, her face broke into a smile. "I knew it was you! I went to the site to look for you just now. They said you'd already come out for a meal. I was wondering where you'd go, and never thought I'd run into you here on the way."
"Yeah."
Seeing Mu Feng's cold attitude, Meng Nianchu took two steps back. Judging from the way they met, they must have had a bad relationship in the past.
It was better to stay away from them to avoid getting into trouble.
"We haven't seen each other for so long. Don't you have anything to say to me? I never thought you'd change so much."
The girl sized Mu Feng up and down. Her expression was just like that of a shy teenage girl.
Even Meng Nianchu felt a flutter in her heart looking at the girl in front of her.
Mu Feng's face was taut and expressionless. He turned to Meng Nianchu and said, "Ms. Meng, I have something to do. I'll go first."
"Okay."
As soon as Meng Nianchu agreed, Mu Feng turned around and walked away.
The girl anxiously blocked his way. "I know I was wrong before. I've realized my mistake and I really want to apologize. Can't you give me a chance to explain? Those things in South Korea weren't what I wanted to do. Do you think I wasn't sad when we broke up?"
"It's all in the past. There's no need to explain."
During the time she'd known Mu Feng, this was the first time Meng Nianchu had seen him be so cold to someone.
Mu Feng tried to get around the girl, but she spread her arms and blocked him. Her eyes were red - rimmed and her voice trembled. "I called you, but you didn't answer. You blocked me on all my contact information, WeChat, Weibo! I wanted to explain, but you never listened!"
"Get out of the way!"
"Please give me one more chance to explain." The girl reached out to grab Mu Feng's arm.
"I have someone I like."
The girl's outstretched hand hung in the air.
Mu Feng grabbed Meng Nianchu. "The person I like is her. Is that okay?"
"She's married. You don't need to use such a lame excuse to reject me, do you?" The girl couldn't believe it.
Mu Feng looked at her seriously and said firmly, "Even if she's married, she's still the one I like. If I have to, I'll wait until she gets divorced. As long as I'm alive, I'll wait."
Tears welled up in the girl's eyes. Then she glared angrily at Meng Nianchu. Her small hands were clenched into fists by her sides as she clearly tried to hold back her anger.
Finally, she angrily asked Mu Feng, "What's so good about this woman? She's much older than you! I'm younger than her. We've been together for so many years. What does she have that I don't, that you'd rather like her than me?"
"Enough." Mu Feng let go of Meng Nianchu and didn't even bother to look at the girl. "I've said what I need to say. The show's over. Did the paparazzi follow you this time? I'm sure you've taken all the photos you wanted. So just leave and stop getting on my nerves."
The girl gritted her teeth tightly, trying hard not to let the tears flow.
Mu Feng took a deep breath, roughly pushed her aside, and walked out of the restaurant.
