Chapter 145 The Culprit

As soon as Linda heard from others about Mu Feng's car accident, when she saw Meng Nianchu again, she couldn't hold back her sarcasm.

Meng Nianchu was worried. Hearing Linda's endless stream of malicious remarks, how could she endure it?

When Linda finished her remarks, Meng Nianchu stared at her with bloodshot eyes. Linda let out an exaggerated "Ouch" and said, "I'm just telling the truth. Are you not willing to listen? But whose fault is it? Your own trainee got hit by a car and can't participate in the competition."

"Back then, I told Mu Feng that you're not a good person. Choosing you as a tutor would only lead to his downfall. I didn't expect my words to come true. It seems you're just a jinx, born to bring bad luck to others."

Meng Nianchu tightly pursed her red lips.

Linda continued, "I wonder how much Mu Feng regrets choosing you now."

"Rather than being tortured by you," Meng Nianchu interjected coldly.

Linda blushed, feeling stuck for words.

Meng Nianchu took a step closer to her and said, "If you're involved in this, just you wait!"

"You..."

"I'm not deaf. I heard someone call you this morning saying the job was done. I'm warning you. If I find even a shred of evidence, I'll never let you off!"

Whether it was because she was intimidated by Meng Nianchu's furious demeanor or shocked that Meng Nianchu had overheard her phone call, Linda stared at her, speechless.

Meng Nianchu clenched her fists tightly, forcefully suppressing the anger in her heart. She silently told herself that this was a stage venue, and she couldn't hit Linda and make a fool of herself.

Only then could she calm down a bit.

This morning, not long after seeing Zhang Fan off from the practice room, Meng Nianchu was squatting in a corner of the practice room, quietly thinking about the upcoming performance. Suddenly, she heard Linda passing by outside the practice room. Linda seemed to stop for a moment, and the words she said on the phone drifted into Meng Nianchu's ears.

"You did a good job today. If it really works out and he can't return to the stage, I'll naturally give you the rest. Don't worry."

The time and place all matched up. Meng Nianchu couldn't help but suspect.

She hadn't even gone to confront Linda yet, and here Linda came charging at her!

Meng Nianchu gritted her back teeth tightly, each word dripping with anger, "I'll never tolerate anyone bullying those under my care. If I find the evidence, I'll ruin you!"

"You're just spouting nonsense!" Linda's face flushed red and then turned pale. In a fit of desperation, she shouted.

Meng Nianchu took a deep breath and said, "Get out of here."

"Who do you think wants to stay here with you? This is such a depressing place. Even if you begged me to come, I wouldn't want to. You're crazy!" Linda, looking rather guilty, strode out of the lounge.

Meng Nianchu turned around and punched the air. A gust of wind blew by.

Now that she had calmed down, she couldn't help but feel annoyed that she had blurted out her suspicions. Wouldn't this give Linda a chance to cover up her tracks? It would be even more difficult for her to find evidence.

Anger and annoyance combined, leaving Meng Nianchu listless for the whole afternoon. In the evening, she went to the hospital and told Mu Feng that the director had agreed to postpone the competition. But seeing Mu Feng's disappointment at not being able to practice dance with his teammates during this period, Meng Nianchu became even more anxious.

Although Mu Feng would still be able to take the stage in a few days, it was still a pity that he had missed out on the combined singing and dancing practice.

Looking at the vegetables on the table, Meng Nianchu let out a long sigh. She couldn't eat a single bite.

Footsteps sounded behind her. Meng Nianchu turned around and saw Mu Junze standing there, holding a strawberry cream cake, her favorite.

Seeing Mu Junze at this frustrating moment, Meng Nianchu's nose turned sour and she felt like crying. Sniffing, she threw herself into Mu Junze's arms and said, "My trainee got hit by a car."

"Eat something first," Mu Junze gently patted her on the back and placed the strawberry cream cake on the table.

Meng Nianchu tried hard to hold back the tears in her eyes and watched as Mu Junze opened the cake, then cut a small piece and put it in her hand.

She took a bite. It was sticky and sweet.

She was so sad, yet Mu Junze still seemed so calm. Just as she was about to find an excuse to vent her anger on him, Mu Junze suddenly said, "I accidentally heard about Mu Feng's car accident from someone. I had nothing to do this afternoon, so I looked into it for you."

"Did you find the culprit?" Meng Nianchu was stunned.

Mu Junze motioned for her to eat the cake.

Meng Nianchu gobbled it up, looking at Mu Junze eagerly. Suddenly, she thought this man was a godsend!

"He's in my company. I didn't bring him here for fear of alerting the enemy."

Hearing this, Meng Nianchu's gloomy mood from the whole day instantly lifted. A smile played on her lips, and the cake in her hand was quickly devoured.

Mu Junze wiped the corner of her mouth and said, "It's Linda."

As expected.

But Meng Nianchu was still extremely angry!

Sure enough, the words she had heard were Linda talking to the taxi driver. She guessed that it was probably the day before Mu Feng's car accident. Mu Feng's harsh words to Linda had made her hold a grudge. She was also afraid that Mu Feng would get the highest number of votes in this competition, forcing her trainees off the stage.

That's why she had resorted to such despicable means!

Mu Junze gently wiped Meng Nianchu's hands and asked, "What do you plan to do? Send her to the police station..."

"No need," Meng Nianchu's eyes turned cold. "Such a great gift should be witnessed by all the audience!"

If she just sent the hit - and - run driver who was acting on Linda's orders to the police station, wouldn't it be too easy on Linda, that snake - hearted woman! She had prevented Mu Feng from competing and dared to target her trainees. How could she let her off so easily!

She wanted Linda to receive this "gift" properly!

Five days passed in a flash. The day before the competition, all the tickets were sold out. On the day of the competition, the venue was packed. Some audience members were waving banners with Mu Feng's name on them.

Backstage, Linda, who was about to take the stage, saw this eye - catching scene and sneered, "So what if he has a lot of fans? He can't compete and didn't even tell his fans in advance. He'll lose all his fans soon. After a while, I'll fabricate some negative news about him. Let's see how he'll manage then!"

She had even planned that when writing the scandalous articles about Mu Feng, she would definitely include Meng Nianchu, making their relationship even more suspicious. She hoped that Meng Nianchu's reputation would also plummet and she would be despised by everyone!

Just like she had been before!
