Chapter 110: Escaping from Hong Kong (Part 3)

Good things in life were few and far between. Only Li Chuchu seemed to be a gift bestowed upon him outside the dictates of fate.

The last words his mother said to him before she passed away were, "Don't seek revenge. Don't stand out."

Shen Yanshan could use the concept of "destiny" to persuade himself to let go of his grudges regarding his family's misfortunes. He had long since come to terms with his fated tragic destiny. All he had done later was just to scrape by and survive.

It had taken him over two decades to learn to let go. But now, he couldn't bear to let Li Chuchu suffer his hardships and unjust persecution with a clear conscience.

The cigarette between Shen Yanshan's fingers emitted curling wisps of smoke. As the smoke rose into the air, a faint light gradually appeared on the horizon.

In the early morning, it rained in Hong Kong. Li Chuchu was awakened by the sound of raindrops falling from the eaves. The surroundings were filled with wet puddles, but the small area where she was curled up was still dry. There was a piece of clothing above her head, shielding her from the rain.

"Awake?"

A hoarse and low voice came from above, sounding like the person had stayed up all night.

"Yeah."

"Sh... Shen Yanshan, let's go."

After sleeping outside all night, Li Chuchu's voice was a bit hoarse.

Then she got up, supporting herself against the wall.

...

In the middle of the night,

Qian Guangjin was cozily nestled in the quilt with his new and slippery mistress, busy with their amorous activities. Suddenly, there was a series of urgent knocks on the door, which made Qian Guangjin, who was about to show his prowess, go limp in an instant.

"Boss, Shen Yanshan showed up at the horse - racing club this afternoon."

Qian Guangjin's face changed drastically. He quickly got out of the quilt, scolding as he put on his clothes. "Damn it! I haven't heard any news about this kid for so many days. I almost thought he wasn't coming."

He had underestimated Shen Yanshan. This guy actually had the guts to come to Hong Kong alone.

But since he was here, Qian Guangjin was determined to make sure he never left!

Qian Guangjin immediately sent people everywhere to look for Shen Yanshan and blocked all the smuggling docks. Once the duck was in his mouth, he wasn't going to let it fly away.

That night, not only did Shen Yanshan stay up all night, but Qian Guangjin also endured the whole night, waiting like a hawk for his subordinates to come back with news.

However, by the next morning, the last group of his subordinates who were sent out stood silently with their heads down in front of his desk. Qian Guangjin's temples began to throb.

A beautiful porcelain vase was slammed heavily on the ground, shattering into pieces.

Qian Guangjin was furious. "Damn it! A bunch of useless idiots! You can't even catch a single person! What the hell am I keeping you for? Get out of here!"

If Shen Yanshan hadn't come to Hong Kong, he could have told the people above that Shen Yanshan was too vigilant to be lured here. But now that Shen Yanshan had come and escaped right under his nose, his days as the general manager of Rongxing Company were numbered.

Just as his subordinate was about to leave quickly to avoid being scolded further, Qian Guangjin called him back. "Have all the smuggling ports been blocked?"

"Yes, they have."

"Has any smuggling boat left during this period?"

"No. The fishermen's boats are all parked in the harbor."

Qian Guangjin felt relieved and gradually regained his composure. He began to casually straighten his collar. As long as the person was still in Hong Kong, it was just a matter of time before he was caught.

Damn it! This little bastard really knew how to run.

If he was caught, Qian Guangjin would surely make him pay.

Qian Guangjin had already started scheming in his mind that once he caught Shen Yanshan, he wouldn't be so lenient. First, he would let his subordinates beat him up severely to vent his anger. Then he would lock him in a water dungeon for a month. Finally, he would tie him to a boat along with the batch of contraband goods.

When Shen Yanshan thought he had finally escaped, he would get off the boat and find the police waiting for him. With so many contraband items on a private boat, it would be a clear case of man and goods seized. He would surely be sentenced to ten or eight years in prison. Even if he didn't die, he would be severely punished.

Just as Qian Guangjin was fantasizing about how to torture Shen Yanshan,

there was a knock on the door.

General Manager Li poked his head in through the slightly ajar door. He saw the ceramic fragments all over the floor at a glance. His eyes flashed with a hint of smugness. "What on earth has made you so angry so early in the morning, General Manager Qian? Is it because you're getting old and your body is failing? I can actually recommend a good traditional Chinese doctor to you."

Li never came without a purpose. When this "fox" came, it was surely no good.

Qian Guangjin snorted. "If you're here to laugh at me, you've come to the wrong place. And who let you in without my permission?"

Li Buhuai shrugged indifferently and sat down on the chair opposite him. "No one stopped me. I saw the door wide open and just walked in. It seems that your security system here still needs some improvement, General Manager Qian."

Qian Guangjin's subordinates had all been called into the room for a scolding, so the outside was sparsely guarded. But seeing Qian Guangjin in a bad situation made Li Buhuai happy. Just as Qian Guangjin was about to get angry again, Li Buhuai took out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to him. "I'm here to give you something. No need to thank me."

Qian Guangjin took it and saw that it was a promotional advertisement for a tourist group coming to Hong Kong from the mainland.

There were many wealthy people in the mainland who wanted to visit Hong Kong. Businessmen in Hong Kong had spotted this business opportunity and developed this kind of business in recent years. There were also the travel itinerary and the return time on it. Today was the last day, and the return boat of the tourist group was at 7:30 in the morning.

He frowned, not understanding why Li Buhuai gave him this. He disdainfully threw the paper back to Li Buhuai. "What the hell is this for? Are you trying to tell me that you're going to give up the electronics industry and turn to tourism?"

Li Buhuai didn't explain much.

He stood up from the sofa, his voice tinged with mockery. "It seems that you still have a lot to do, General Manager Qian. I won't bother you anymore."

After saying that, he left.

Qian Guangjin watched his back and muttered, "A plague god."

Having nothing to do, he propped his feet up on the desk, sipping the imported Western coffee in small sips. He looked at the scenery outside the huge floor - to - ceiling window, waiting for his subordinates to come back with the latest news.

Out of boredom, Qian Guangjin started to have doubts in his mind.

Something wasn't right. Li Buhuai wasn't called the "fox" in the business world for nothing. He surely didn't come here just to give him a piece of paper for no reason.

Qian Guangjin thought and thought, always feeling that something was off. He picked up the promotional advertisement again and looked at it carefully.

The advertising slogan "Open the Window to the World Here" almost took up the entire page. There were several well - known tourist attractions in Hong Kong on it, used as a gimmick to attract those naive mainland tourists.

The travel schedule was in the bottom row.

The boat leaving at 7:30...

Calculating the time, it should be almost on the mainland by now, probably arriving in Spring City.

Qian Guangjin slapped his thigh and suddenly realized.

No... the boat!
