Chapter 43: Someone Has Already Come Looking

The person who caught her was a young officer in iron armor with a red cape. He had seen the previous rider's horse about to hurt her and, in a hurry, jumped off his own horse to rescue her.

Seeing this, the others all reined in their horses.

Only the young officer, still holding Ji Feiyu, asked anxiously, "Are you all right, old man?"

Ji Feiyu stared blankly at him, forgetting that she was still in his arms.

This officer was actually good - looking and kind - hearted.

The panic and kindness in the young officer's eyes seemed genuine. He gently helped her stand up. Ji Feiyu, in her guise as an old man, averted her gaze, waved her hand and said cheerfully, "Oh, I'm fine, I'm fine. You're such a kind - hearted lad!"

The young officer blushed shyly. After steadying her, he let go and said, "It was my subordinate's horse running too fast and startling you. I apologize to you here!"

Ji Feiyu waved her hand again. "No need, no need."

However, the young officer looked around and suddenly whispered to her, "Old man, you've been here for a while. Have you seen a young and beautiful woman being taken away by bandits?"

Ji Feiyu pretended not to hear clearly and repeated loudly, "What? Bandits!"

The young officer quickly put his finger to his lips, making a shushing gesture. "Keep your voice down, old man. I'm afraid the bandits are nearby."

Ji Feiyu pretended to look confused. The young officer asked again, "Have you seen any mysterious people taking a beautiful woman away in a carriage in the past few days?"

Ji Feiyu suddenly realized that this man was here to look for her. So, she had an idea and pointed to the west street. "I just saw a carriage going that way. There seemed to be a woman in it, and the coachman didn't look like a good person. Are they the ones you're looking for, lad?"

Hearing this, the young officer's eyes lit up immediately. He said happily, "Thank you for the tip, old man!"

After saying that, he took out a silver ingot from his bosom and put it into her hand. "This silver is my apology for what just happened. See you later!"

After saying that, he mounted his horse and said to his men, "Go to the west gate!"

The silver ingot still carried his body heat. Ji Feiyu watched them leave in a hurry, her eyes wandering. Suddenly, Hua Hudie flitted to her side and patted her on the shoulder, saying unhappily, "Hey, your pear!"

Ji Feiyu quickly took it with a smile, wiped the pear contentedly and said, "Oh, you're really a good son of mine!"

Hua Hudie snorted and walked across the street without even looking at her. Ji Feiyu followed with a tottering step, looking happy.

She knew he was unhappy but didn't know why. She just thought he was annoyed because she had teased him just now.

It wasn't until they found a new inn and entered a new room that Hua Hudie put down his burden and said to Ji Feiyu unhappily, "Don't do this again in the future!"

Ji Feiyu found a place to sit down, wiped the pear and said with a smile while eating, "What, are you not willing to be my son just because you bought a pear?"

Hua Hudie turned his head and said, "I'm not talking about this. I'm talking about you falling! You don't know how dangerous it was just now. If that officer hadn't had a conscience and come to save you, you might have had several broken ribs today!"

Ji Feiyu felt a bit embarrassed but didn't take it seriously. "I'm fine now, aren't I? Why are you so fierce? I was just afraid of showing my skills and exposing our identities. You know he's an officer, and an officer who's here to arrest us. I can't involve you again!"

After saying that, she continued to eat the pear. But Hua Hudie snatched it away, took a bite himself and said angrily, "Anyway, I don't care. If there's such a situation in the future, you just show your skills. If we're discovered, I'll carry you away with my light - footed skills!"

Ji Feiyu knew he was worried about her and was a bit touched. But looking at her empty hands without the pear, she didn't know whether to be happy or angry. She just stood up and reached out her hand to him. "Give me back my pear!"

As soon as Hua Hudie saw this, he quickly dodged, took a bite of her pear with a grin and said, "There's still one in the paper bag. You can just take another one!"

Ji Feiyu said, "Then why don't you go and get it? You're eating my pear. Give it back, give it back!"

Hearing this, Hua Hudie quickly licked the pear a few times and showed off, "Do you still want it after I've licked it? Do you?"

Ji Feiyu said angrily, "Damn it! Who asked you to eat my pear!"

Hearing this, Hua Hudie laughed, took a few more bites and said, "So what if I eat it? Hahaha, if you're not convinced, come and catch me!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he ran. But he accidentally swallowed the unchewed pear in his mouth. Immediately, he bent down and coughed violently. Seeing this, Ji Feiyu couldn't help laughing. After laughing enough, seeing that he was still coughing, she quickly went over to pat his back and joked, "Look at you. You can even choke on a pear. How clumsy are you?"

Hua Hudie still covered his chest and coughed violently. While coughing, he suddenly sat down on the ground, pointed to the sky with one finger and trembled, "I'm done for. I'm choking. I'm going to stop breathing!"

Ji Feiyu quickly said, "Hey, stop playing around. You're so childish!"

Unexpectedly, he rolled his eyes and fainted. When Ji Feiyu checked his breath, it was very weak. She couldn't help patting his face and saying, "Hey! Wake up! Don't scare me!"

He then pinched his throat and said hoarsely, "I need mouth - to - mouth. Hurry up!"

As soon as Ji Feiyu heard this and was about to help him with mouth - to - mouth, she suddenly came to her senses, stood up and kicked him hard on the buttocks. "Get up already. How long are you going to pretend?"

Only then did he crawl up while coughing, rubbing his buttocks and saying unwillingly, "Sure enough, the most poisonous thing in the world is a woman's heart!"

Ji Feiyu couldn't help turning her back to him and snickering. After laughing, she crossed her arms and said, "We'll stay here for one night today. We'll leave early tomorrow morning, go east first and then north. Also, I suddenly don't want to pretend to be an old man anymore. You'd better turn me into a young girl quickly. Just an ordinary - looking one that won't attract attention!"

Hua Hudie walked around in front of her, crying and saying, "Yu'er, why do you have to torture me like this?"

Ji Feiyu said, "I don't like being called auntie, old granny or old man all the time. I don't care. Anyway, I just want to be a young girl. Even if I'm a bit ugly, it doesn't matter. Maybe we can both be a bit ugly. It'll be so low - key!"

Hearing this, Hua Hudie quickly shook his head. "No, no! I want to be beautiful. If you want to be ugly, I can fulfill your wish."

Ji Feiyu said, "Not too ugly. Just a bit above ordinary. If you go too far, I won't forgive you, just like I didn't on the street today!"

Hua Hudie said, "Okay, okay, okay. You want to be ugly but still presentable, right? How about dressing you up as an ordinary village woman?"

Ji Feiyu nodded. "That's great!"

So Hua Hudie opened his mysterious burden again and began to wash her face and change her appearance. While doing this, he sighed, "Alas, Yu'er really doesn't know how to cherish. You don't know how expensive and hard - to - find these medicinal herbs are. It really makes my heart ache to waste them like this!"
